Wow! Time has been running! A lot has changed and happened since our travels in New Zealand in 2015. The best is our wonderful, healthy and beautiful daughter Mireya Brave. But here are the photos and comments about our travels on the north island.

Our ferry ride from Picton to Wellington was pretty windy and rough. Since we both have been to Wellington before, we continued our travels and drove on the same day to Napier. Around Napier are a couple of great wineries and we tasted some great reds. In Taupo we found a Mc Donalds with an airplane and a bed for the night. On the way to Rotorua we had a bath in a hot creek and continued our travels to our friends home. We spent a couple of nights with our friends Jeannie, Alistair and Mark in Mount Maunganui and area. We also celebrated Maett's 29th birthday. In Auckland we had a wonderful couple of days with our dear friend Amy and her family.

Almost a year has passed since our travels through New Zealand. Here a little throwback to all our adventures and places we went to.

We started by picking up our rental car in Christchurch. Then we went along the coast south through Oamaru, Moeraki Boulders, Katiki Point to Dunedin. On the Ontago Peninsula we spotted the first penguins - coming out of the ocean and climbing the sandy walls up to their nests.

Our favorite part of the travels on the South Island was the Caitlins, which is the most southerly part and also more remote and wild. In Invercargill we went to Church before heading to Manapouri and the beautiful Milford Sound.

In Wanaka we stayed with some dear friends and then took the Haast Pass to the West Coast. Sadly the weather was not good enough to get a glimps of the Glaciers. So we made our way up to Greymouth and the Pancake Rocks and then took the Lewis Pass to Hanmer Springs. Taking the road less travelled - a scenic route - to see our next friends in Kaikoura. They took us to see the baby seals playing in a freshwater stream and waterfall and also we got to go to a local surf spot which ended with a crazy storm.

Going North through Nelson to Abel Tasman National Park and the northernmost point of the South Island called Wharariki Beach. Our travels on the South Island ended like most others by waiting for our ferry to the North Island.

Und nacher sind mir anen iiheimischä Surfplatz mit ihne und d'Surfsession hät abrupt mitemä mega Sturm g'endet.

Nacher sind mir richtig Nordä gangä dur Nelson in Abel Tasman Nationalpark und zum nördlichstä Punkt vodä Südinsle, wo Wharariki Beach heisst. Eusi Reis dur d'Südinsle hät gliich wiä für di meistä g'endet: Mitem Warte uf d'Fähri für ufd Nordinsle.

Our next adventure led us back to the beginning of our love story. Five years ago it all started for us in New Zealand, and now we went back. On the way there we had a couple hours layover in hot and humid but beautiful Singapore.

After we spent a night in Christchurch, we took an early morning bus to Lake Tekapo. This is where we worked as ski instructors at Roundhill Ski Area for two months. We had many beautiful days, lots of snow, made new friends, and enjoyed the stunning scenery around Lake Tekapo every single day. Every day we had to drive half an hour to the mountain and back. The staff van had to stop a couple of times for Marlyn so she could take photos of the wonderful reflections of the lake. And one time she stood for a long time in the cold to capture the incredible milky way. Lake Tekapo is famous for being a dark sky reserve which means you can see the stars a lot clearer than in many other places.

During this two months we went a couple of times to Timaru (manly for shopping) and once we visited our friends in Lighthouse Wanaka. Overall we had a lot of fun and enjoyed seeing old faces but also meet lots of new people.

Dä Staff-Van hät äs paar mal müesä aahaltä wäg dä Marlyn, dass sie hät chöne diä wunderbarä Reflektionä fötelä vom See. Und eimal isch sie für a langi Zyt idä Chälti gstandä, damit sie hät diä krass klari Milchstrass chöne iifangä. Lake Tekapo isch bekannt als Dark Sky Reserve was bedüütet, dass mä d'Stärne klarer gseht als a vilnä anderä Ortä.

Während däne zwei Mönet sind mir au äs paar mal uf Timaru (vorallem zum go iichaufä) und eimal eusi Fründä go bsuechä vom Lighthouse Wanaka. Mir händ zwei super Mönet gha mit vil Spass und händs gnossä alti Bekannti wieder zgseh aber au neui Lüüt kännezlärne.

This was the first time back in our home country after one year and eight months living abroad and the next adventure - working as a ski instructor in New Zealand - already coming up soon.

Our awesome American friend Nate spent pretty much the whole time with us. Next to touring around in Switzerland and a little in Italy and France, the time was filled with Family & Friends, exploring different cities, enjoying great food and coffees, camping, swimming in different lakes, climbing steep mountains, moving cows, attending a wedding and family gatherings, playing with little puppy Finn, and just exploring more, living wilder and enjoying to the fullest.

So the last two months we spent in Mammoth we just really enjoyed hanging out with our friends (not taking too many photos). We also had some other Swiss friends, Söni and Ben, staying with us for a couple of weeks. Maett and Nate enjoyed spring skiing in the park (look at the photos - they look like brothers or twins in their flannels). Marlyn explored some more on her walks and we had a great time camping with our friends from Reno in the backyard of Mammoth. And also we had a last brunch, Swiss-style - with lots of real Swiss cheese, honey, bread, jam, raclette, cake etc. - with lots of our close friends coming by.

A couple of pictures that only tell part of the wonderful months we had in Mammoth. Next to learning lots about leadership and our personal relationship to God, we also were privileged to attend two ministry trips with Michael Dalton and Patti Bell (Reno and Lake Tahoe).

Even though we had not a lot of snow, there was enough to have a lot of fun with lots of friends. And at sunrise the hot springs are the most beautiful - everyone knows that. For three weeks our friend Steph came to visit - and we had even more fun. For Valentine's Day we went on a romantic Pennyboard cruise in our backyard. And yes, it is true, the whole time it was winter but felt like spring. :P

It all started one day after New Years at 5am. Maett surprised Marlyn with a trip to Maui in Hawai'i. What a trip that was! This island is incredible rich in every aspect - lots of good food, rich and beautiful nature and wildlife, great people, gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, incredible beaches, crazy waves, bluer water than you can imagine and loads of fun and things to explore.

Randomly we were in Maui at the same time like our friends Roger & Mattia. So we decided to explore together which was even more fun. We ended up staying in our friends self-built treehouse, camping by the beach, staying with another friend, climbing steep walls to get to natural pools, stand-up paddling, snorkling, holding our breath under water to hear the crazy loud humpback whale songs, cruising around in our Ford Mustang, finding our way through a bamboo forest, having way to much fun and enjoying two great church services and home-gathering. Thank you everyone who helped making this trip an unforgettable experience - but especially to Maett for this incredible, amazing and wonderful surprise!

December was a beautiful month in Mammoth Lakes. We got some snow and lots of snowy and scenic pictures. Next to playing in the snow, we had fun at Coffee&Wax-Parties, knitting and listening to the beautiful music of our friend Sara. Also we had a great Christmas time with good friends, great food and our beautiful Christmas tree. To celebrate the beginning of 2015 we went to Reno to our dear friends Kub & Katie, Rachel & Jonathan. Lots of fun, painting nails and celebrating in the hot pool with a great view over Reno and the fire works.

Another throwback to our time in Mammoth with even more adventures in November. With the girls, Marlyn had a couple more hikes before winter. The hikes led to Convict Lake, Sherwin Lake, Twin Lake Falls and Crater Lake.

At the end of the month, we went to Reno with Anu and had some fun exploring, shopping and staying with our friends Kub and Katie.

On the way back to Mammoth we met our other friends Al & Laura and Patrick & Becca for the search for a Christmas tree. Stomping through the fresh snow, everyone found their perfect tree. Ready for Christmas time!

What a gorgeous place we called home. Enjoy some more highlights from last October in Mammoth Lakes. Marlyn hiked two times Mammoth Crest, one time by herself and once with her Wednesday Hike Ladies, Maett tried fly fishing with very patient Eric Jackson as his instructor (Thanks Eric!), and Marlyn went with Anu and Sara to Yosemite National Park before they closed part of it for winter. Loads of fun and adventures with friends!

It was so good to show our family the place we called home for all these months. Especially when fall time is just showing off. We took Maett’s Mum, Hans and Michael to Twin Lakes, Convict Lake, Hot Springs, Spillway Surfing, Rock Creek and for some good food. We really enjoyed having you!

Back in Mammoth Lakes, in the beginning of October, our school started again. One of the first things we did in our second school year was a retreat to San Elijo State Beach. We enjoyed the quality time and getting to know each other, as well as surfing and having fun. After leaving Oregon we travelled through the Redwood National Park, enjoying these incredible giants. A couple days later we went to Napa and Sonoma Valley where we got a taste of one of the most famous vine regions in the world.

We are already back in Switzerland since more than three weeks and enjoy the time with family and friends.

But here is another throwback to last September. Oregon was good to us - we enjoyed especially the coast line a lot. Also we surprisingly met our friend Thomas from home in the middle of nowhere. And so it came that we celebrated Maett's 28th Birthday together.

After spending two hours at the border Canada/USA we made it back to the States. Our first (quick) stop was in Seattle, Washington - birthing place of Starbucks. We had a lot of fun exploring this city and getting a fresh (much needed) haircut.
